A feature of Philips Crypto transponders is an attached readable code or identifier (ID). Which is not the code needed to start the engine but is only a unique name or identity that is used for each transponder, this ID cannot be altered. This identifier is used by a vehicles crypto type ECU to check whether the transponder involved is already in its memory. Only if the ID is stored will the dealers diagnostics equipment be able to check and copy the concealed crypto code; which starts the engine. If the ID is not stored in the diagnostic units memory, the diagnostic unit must copy the ID and store it in memory before it can proceed to copy the concealed code.This update is free of charge.
